MY RELATIONSHIP TO BEYONCÉ
As you can see based on this article, I’m a huge Beyoncé fan. I’ll leave it to you to judge whether my criticisms are objective enough or not. For my part, Beyoncé is an artist I’ve respected and admired since I was a little girl. She was one of my reference points when I was growing up. When nothing was stable around me anymore, it was essential for my mental well-being to anchor myself in some way, to something, someone familiar. My escape routes have always been music, film and writing. And I feel like I learn from the best.
I was lucky enough to be born with the ability to think big, and the capacity to grow my own self up intelligently. For a long time, this unique way of thinking was a handicap in my youth. In the end, over time, it turned out to be a strength and a major asset to my identity. As a result, as an only child, a lonely black girl, shunned by my classmates, reserved and discreet, I could only fall in love with an artist like Beyoncé Knowles. She represents practically everything I’m striving for in my professional life. She’s hard-working, she’s talented, she’s determined, she’s passionate, she’s humble, she’s stable and self-assured.
I’m a fan girl at heart ! I’m a cheerleader ! I always feed off the things that drive and inspire me on a daily basis. I hope you can do the same with your lives, because passions are our fuel. Whether your inspirations are deemed frivolous or cheesy by others, don’t let yourself be negatively influenced by the outside opinions of people who know nothing about your ambitions.
